SUMMARY: This is an entry-level mechanical engineering position. The position will assist management staff in the Mechanical Department by providing engineering services, which can include railroad car structural inspection and analysis; occasional construction supervision; and facilities inspections. Would also be expected to provide evaluation of proposed projects and make recommendations of possible changes in operations that could contribute to increased company profits. Work is split between an office environment and fieldwork and would require working with governmental and regulatory agencies. The position may also be assigned to our Gary Indiana facility and candidates must be flexible to work at out-of-state locations and to the possibility of future relocation, as the needs of the company may require.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: BS in Mechanical Engineering. Candidate should have effective oral, written and communication skills; and proficient with personal computers, AutoCAD literate and able to read blueprints. Must be willing to: perform structural climbing, work shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed to accomplish job requirements; and work outdoors in inclement weather. A valid driver's license is required.

OTHER SKILLS: Good organization and planning skills. Hands-on experience, especially in project management through summer internships, co-operative education programs or school assignments is a plus.
