SUMMARY:
This is an entry-level locomotive service position. Hostlers are responsible for servicing locomotives; which includes checking and filling fluid levels, filling sand boxes and supplying cabs. They are also responsible for connecting and disconnecting locomotives and setting them up for proper operation. Hostlers can also perform a variety of miscellaneous duties, including but not limited to washing engines, and performing inspections and making minor repairs as necessary.

This position will have a regular shift subject to seniority rights and the work will be outdoors in all types of weather conditions. New hires can expect to work the afternoon or midnight shift, and weekends and holidays. IL.
