The Supervisor of Maintenance position is a full-time exempt front-line supervisory position of Texas and Northern Railway Company of Transtar, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of U. S. Steel focusing on the construction, maintenance and material handling for all track, bridges, buildings, culverts, sanding facilities, signal bridges, fueling facilities and the right-of-way maintenance work in an industrial work environment; also thorough and timely administrative documentation and compliance with applicable company policies and requirements of several government agencies. |
Job Responsibilities:
- Assures compliance with safety as a core value for all supervised employees, correcting unsafe acts and conditions that create potential for incident or injury
- Trains, develops, and evaluates employees
- Assure that inspections are completed as required by the FRA, and proper maintenance practices are utilized for repair and replacement of equipment, tracks, structures, etc.
- Prepare and supervise jobs as it relates to manpower, equipment usage, and material needs
- Communicates with inter- and intra-departmental personnel to maintain efficient utilization of equipment, manpower, and to minimize delays to train movements
- Maintains records and reports in accordance with applicable State and Federal Standards
- Investigates causes of incidents, derailments, equipment damage, failures, and delays

Job Requirements:
- 5 to 10-years railroad or industrial operations and/or maintenance experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field preferred
- Valid driver's license
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of railroad facilities and equipment a plus
- Working knowledge of railroad operations and traffic requirements a plus
- Work outdoors in an industrial environment in all weather conditions
- Ability to extended hours including weekends and holidays and on-call as required
