With the passage of the Transportation Act of 1940, Warrior & Gulf Navigation came into existence. Standards for tug and barge  movements
between Mobile and Texas ports changed in 1945 with the completion
of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway between New Orleans, LA,
and Galveston, TX, and for the first time, river barges could
move west from Mobile to Texas points.  Warrior & Gulf continued to grow, handling barge transportation needs from facilities at Port Birmingham to Mobile, AL; to New Orleans, LA; and to Houston, TX. In 1988, Warrior & Gulf Navigation became part of Transtar, Inc. |
